A Cyberman walks menacingly into the frame. As a child I found the Daleks frightening enough, but the Cybermen with their expressionless faces and blank eyes marching relentlessly forward were absolutely terrifying. It's good to see the BBC have brought them back in their splendid nightmare-engendering revamp of Dr Who.

Pedants might enquire what exactly is politically incorrect about 'Cyberman', to which I could refer them to my comment on the inclusion of 'Dalek', but instead let's just say you don't ever hear of the Cyberwomen do you?

Trainspotters might complain that my illustration does not match any of the generations of Cybermen they've ever seen on Dr Who, to which I can only retort that there are lots more where they came from so watch out.

Oh, and Mrs W-J might point out that it's not the hard 'C' consonant sound with velar articulation but is instead the sibilant form with alveolar articulation…
