The gun - an essential prop for playing cowboys and indians.

I'd put this next on my 'to do' list, primarily because Mrs W-J doesn't like 'Golliwog' so I need an alternative, quickly, and I started preparatory sketches. To my surprise I couldn't remember what a hand gun looks like. The devil or a pouffe I have no problem with, though neither is in my home either, but a gun? In the UK the last time you hold a gun is probably about age 7, bang bang pop pop you're dead I'm not, after that you graduate to more mature pursuits (in my days 'doctors and nurses', currently a Gameboy). Ignorance sometimes truly is bliss.

I'll do the research though and come back later.

OK, the gun is up. It's a World War II Luger - my father once had one which he'd taken from a German officer who no longer had use for it. He left it behind when eventually he came home in 1946.

You might wonder why this particular illustration has realistic detail, while all the others have a faux naiveté. It looks like the work of a gun nut. Yes. Subtle aren't I?
