I'm not sure whether a topless half woman half fish creature imagined by frustrated sailors is permissable nowadays or not - I suppose it is if Disney can, but it makes a nice picture so you might convince me otherwise.

Disney's mermaid, the recent one at least, had two scallop shells strategically placed. So by removing these I enter a watery un-PC realm, where a voluptuous creature combs her hair in her mirror and lures mortals onto the rocks. As it should be.
Biologically, I'm not sure whether mermaids have navels - but even if they're hatched from eggs they could still be placental animals, like some sharks. And aren't shark egg sacs called mermaid's purses?
