The Eager Young Lad
Still employed now, as they were then, by those who are too successful to have a hand in their children's upbringing. Bawling infant swaddled in cloth in either hand, prominent and copious bosom, tied back hair, the works.
You remember your nanny then? A good suggestion, anything that reinforces the class system is to be encouraged. See also your Maid.
Short for 'Navigator': originally an Irish labourer digging the canals for late C18th Britain, capable of a prodigious workload according to one account I've read. Their descendants went on to lay the C19th railways in Britain and abroad, and their descendants dug up the road round the block from my parent's house in mid C20th Putney, and fed my brother and me ham sandwiches slathered with mustard.

Hmm - we've already got Hitler and Swastika, which between them should keep the National Socialist Party members happy. I had been wondering about other instantly recognisable but politically-out-of-favour figures, such as Chairman Mao, whose reputation has become somewhat tarnished of late - the Great Leap Forward now thought to have led to the death by starvation of some 30 million people.
Ninjas are immediately indentifiable by their black garb and pointy accoutrements.
And their great taste in music of course - www.ninjatune.net
I saw Coldcut and Bonobo play last weekend's Womad festival, just down the road from me. Still recovering.
The School Bully
This generic name for the school nurse who used to de-louse us kids is probably slightly un-PC, as it suggests it's a woman's job. Though maybe calling her Nitty Nora was just a local thing.
She was just 'The Nit Nurse' round our way, as I recall - and 'Nurse' is of course already completed.
Noddy, of course. (nodder?)
The Eager Young Lad
Although it does present with the possibility of his copyright owners shutting us down in overreaction / misunderstanding / complete realisation of what we're doing.
Nuts were once something that Squirrel Nutkin squirrelled away to assuage an attack of the mid-winter munchies. Now not only is 'nuts' a pejorative term for 'mentally unbalanced' but also (especially among norteamericanos) it is a common name for the testes (an American friend was compiling an English/American dictionary, and wanted a translation of the popular English ejaculation 'bollocks' - I suggested to her 'nuts'). Spurred by these definitions it's now also the title assumed by a T&A lad's mag.
So, coupling a) previously likely to been included in a children's alphabet with b) not so likely now to be considered, I think we have a possibility?
